Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."

Really? No suggestion? No suggestion at all? The fact that a terrorist brought an explosive onto an aircraft and set it off in flight (apparently the device only failed to explode because of a failed detonator) doesn't even suggest to the head of DHS that the man was improperly screened? What is screening for? Isn't proper screening by definition meant to keep bomb-carrying terrorists off of airplanes? This should be a question much too obvious to ask. Apparently both the question and the answer baffle Secretary Napolitano. She could hardly have been more clueless if she had replied, "Plane? What plane?"
Jonah Goldberg is right. She should obviously be fired immediately.
Michelle Malkin gives Napolitano much more of the derision she deserves in this Clown Alert.
Yup, She's an idiot no doubt about it. She certainly should be FIRED active immediately! I wonder if she feels like an idiot after she watches the responses she gave to the American public?

She does not have the street sense, and ability to run an agency like Homeland Security. Her comments about the successful 50ft. fence which works, were dumb, she only comment show me a 50 ft fence and I will show you a 51 ft ladder, hope that does not apply to our prisons. President Obama made a poor choice.

This is truly an embarrassment to the United States. Napolitano was a bad choice from the outset, and that view is, unfortunately for Americans, vindicated in the last week.
In over 7 years after 9/11, and without a Department of Homeland Security at the outset, there were NO Islamic jihadist terror attacks on American soil.
In just the last couple of months under Barack Obama and his band of incompetents & Islamic jihadist sympathizers, there have been TWO highly SUCCESSFUL Islamic jihadist terror attacks on American soil that have killed Americans and, but for a failed detonator, would have killed almost 300 other Americans!
During the 11 months of Obama's presidency, he has bowed before a Muslim hereditary king who hates America & its people, has hired Janet Napolitano to head the department charged with securing the people of the United States from harm by foreign terrorists, has apologized for American failures and crimes.
The result has been that while Obama plays paddycake with Muslim jihadists, they are killing us in our homeland, where it is supposed to be safe. American is a laughingstock, it is bankrupt, and it is not a safe harbor for its people. Eleven months. Isn't it amazing the impact that leadership can have on this nation?
