In case you needed any more evidence of the Democrats' authoritarian tendencies and open contempt for the Constitution, in this case specifically the 1st Amendment, look at this:
We write with serious concerns about the planned upcoming broadcast of The Path to 9/11 mini-series on September 10 and 11. Countless reports from experts on 9/11 who have viewed the program indicate numerous and serious inaccuracies that will undoubtedly serve to misinform the American people about the tragic events surrounding the terrible attacks of that day. Furthermore, the manner in which this program has been developed, funded, and advertised suggests a partisan bent unbecoming of a major company like Disney and a major and well respected news organization like ABC. We therefore urge you to cancel this broadcast to cease Disney’s plans to use it as a teaching tool in schools across America through Scholastic. Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public and to children would be a gross miscarriage of your corporate and civic responsibility to the law, to your shareholders, and to the nation...
This is a portion of a letter sent by Democrats in the Senate to Disney essentially threatening the company if they broadcast a film the Democrats don't want people to see, ABC Television's "The Path to 9/11".
Given their support of the propaganda film Fahrenheit 911, they cannot claim any non-partisan objection to "Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public..."
They simply want all blame for all bad things to be directed at President Bush, that's all it comes down to. If they need to shred the U.S. Constitution and threaten their fellow citizens to further that aim, then so be it. It will be interesting to see if and how the liberal MSM will react to these Democratic threats.

Patterico: "Democrats, it's simple. Denounce this letter, or declare yourselves in favor of government threats against networks based on the content of free speech."

With ABC trying to pass off slander and lies as truth, they should not be surprised when those who are libeled fight back.
If the Republicans will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.

Am I correct that few challenged the actual facts in "Fahrenheit 911"? Rather it was the tenor of the film and selective use of the factual information.
This ABC public airway broadcast is a drama -- with actors -- and it apparently fabricating events which never happened. Of course, this happens all of the time when one's favorite novel reaches the bigt screen.
However, the sensitive nature of the events of 911 would necessarily bring any depiction of those events under scrutiny, and likely be criticized.
Perhaps Disney needs to present the movie on the silver screen and not on public airways. Also, since this movie was part of a tandem educational product for student's, there should be less tolerance with the bending of the facts and 'dramatization' of events.

No, that is incorrect.
That cannot be apparent to you unless you've already seen the film.
We agree that there should be little tolerance for bending of facts.

Seems to me like the totalitarian nature of Democrats has been exposed. "Path to 9/11" doesn't even come close to the fabrications and machinations of Fahrenheit 911. Consider the Democrats call for censorship along with their whole-hearted support of Moore's propaganda, I would say the Soviet Union is alive and well.
