John Kerry advocates Theocracy in speech

From the NY Times:

"I will tell you, nowhere in there, nowhere, not in one page, not in one phrase uttered and reported by the Lord Jesus Christ, can you find anything that suggests that there is a virtue in cutting children from Medicaid and taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich," Mr. Kerry said.

We will grant that the Bible does not explicitly address federal Medicaid policy, but whatever happened to "separation of church and state"? Who does John Kerry think he is now, the Pope? Did he fight for his country's freedom in Vietnam to bring a theocratic state to America?

Where is the outrage from all the lefties who are usually outraged by invocations of religion in politics? As we've noted in a continuing series, liberals aren't against using religion in politics if they believe it will benefit them. They're against conservatives in politics, albeit especially those who hold traditional religious views.

In short, for many on the left, espousing values informed by traditional religious views is bad, having left-wing values and trying to sell them using a veneer of religious language is just fine.
