Another Liberal for Religion in Politics

As we've noted several times before, liberals aren't against religion in politics, they're only against any beliefs that disagree with their own. Here's another example, courtesy of Linda Valdez, writing for the Arizona Republic - That Nazareth fellow would be Dem today.

A Web site set up by a minister and his daughter (www.liveliberal.com) has an answer you can wear on a T-shirt: "Liberal is not a dirty word."

Retired Lutheran minister Daniel Bruch of Live Liberal gets right to the point: "I don't know if Jesus was the first liberal, but he was an important one."

Jesus taught love, tolerance, forgiveness, charity and humility. Don't take my word for it. Read the New Testament. It's not that long. And it's not about fire-and-brimstone fundamentalism, judging one another or dominating the Earth. It outlines a philosophy based on a really radical idea: Love your creator, love yourself, love your neighbor as yourself.

....

On their Web site, Bruch and daughter Sarah offer quotes and essays on liberalism that Hillary Rodham Clinton should work into her speeches.

We broke out our copy of the New Testament like they suggested, but we found no mention of federally-funded socialized medicine, taxpayer-funded child care, nor support for government affirmation of same-sex marriage. Maybe it's in the New Testament Book of Job that is in Howard Dean's Bible, but is missing from ours. Ms. Valdez doesn't give any specifics in her article to guide us to her conclusion. What's clear is she has no objection to her brand of religion being used in politics.

  1. Yes, Jesus taught love. And He also said, if they do not listen
to you, then you are to leave them. We are not to pander to
their sin, and say Oh, it's ok.. Yes you love the person,
but if they don't want to listen to the truth
your not judging them, God is the one that will do the juding.

Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you,
when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your
feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the
day of judgment, than for that city.

Sounds like Retired Lutheran minister Daniel Bruch needs
to be rereading the Word of God, and taking it literally.

    Love in Christ,
    Nita
